Hello

We are about to buy a Britax Roundabout for our one year old for air travel.

We just checked the width of our seats in the Delta airplane.

The width of the airplane seat is : 17 inch
The width of the Britax Roundabout is: 18.5 inch.

Does anyone know if the Britax will fit in?
Who experienced flying with Delta and Car seat or better with Delta and Britax Roundabout on a 17 inch seat?

I really wish I will receive some answers because I am a bit nervous travelling for the first time with the little one (overseas).

Thanks

Yes, it will fit, and it's airline approved. The measurements are in different places, so it's hard to judge how it'll fit just from numbers (so it's good you're asking!). The base of the Roundabout is only about 11 inches wide, it fits perfectly on the plane seat cushion, and for easy buckling, you can flip the plane's armrest up.

I have used my Britax roundabout rearfacing and forward facing on Delta, American Airlines, and US Airways and never had an issue with it fitting.

I've used my big Britax seat rear facing on everything from a small prop plane to a 777. Just put the armrest up and it'll fit just fine. Also, just thread the seatbelt through and over the cover. It'll make your life easier.

What seat do you have now that you're not traveling with? The Roundabout is a great seat, and a lot of people love it for travel, but it won't be the last harnessed seat you need, fyi. What is your budget and how heavy is your child that you're buying this seat for?

We love our roundabout for flying and I have used it on many flights and have never had a problem. I agree with Wendy...if I knew what I know now now I would have bought a marathon and not the roundabout. A marathon would have gotten me many more years of use, but I also have tall boys. Good Luck and happy flying!

Thank you very much for all your fast responses!!

Here in Switzerland we have a Maxi Cosi Priori Fix.........None of the Swiss car seats are airline approved (isn't that bad?). Most of the people here have the child on their lap. But I have heard that this will change.

To buy the Marathon instead of the Roundabout that the child can be in there for longer makes sense. I assume that the Marathon will also fit in the airline seat according to what you were saying that the base is a few inches shorter than the widest part.

If the Marathon really fits in well in a 17inch seat we rather go for that.

Does the Marathon fit in most of the cars forward facing or did anyone have troubles because of too short car belts or something?

Thanks
