Advice on Marathon covers and DOM was Re: When was Britax Marathon in Jonah manufactured?

If the DOM is not this year should I not purchase it from a website? Has anyone seen the Olivia or the ashley? I was going to get the Cowmoofldge but with the white in it I don't want it to get Dingy looking. I have been researching here on the Britax. I started out thinking i was going with the Roundabout...but now def the Marathon. I think the others are a little to much work.I am new and would like to get any input you all have, I am waiting to order the carseat because I am not sure if my little girl is 20lbs or not. She just turned 1 and is due next week for her check up. I don't need a new carseet if she is backwards because her feet don't touch the back of the seat.
Thanks for any input

Jonah is probably early 07, late 06 I think. Yeah, the websites I see it on say it's an 06 cover, but it could've been produced into 07 sometime. I would prefer a 35# weight limit to a cute cover though.

Remember that she is safest rfing, the longer she rf, the safer she is. If her legs touch the back of the seat means nothing. When she reaches 33-35# (depending on what year seat you get) or her head is w/in an inch of the top of the seat, she has to go ffing, it's o.k. if her legs touch the back. Evan is 3.5yo and still rfing, his and Ilana's legs both touch the back, but it's safer than risking a broken or seriously injured neck. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=psmUWg7QrC8

Also I wanted to add that while she might be under the weight limit for the seat she also MUST have 1 inch of hard shell over her head, so she may have outgrown the seat she has without you knowing it. I also want to add that it is VERY important that you leave her RF for as long as possible, so past 1 year AND 20lbs.

It does NOT matter if her legs touch the seat or not as it is NOT dangerous in the least. My 19 month old rides RF still & his legs do touch the seat alot, he simply props them on the seat back. I also want to say that I believe he is more comfortable RF as he sleeps better & his legs are not just dangling in mid air like they would be FF. There are also ALOT of people here that their kids have told them that they are more comfortable RF! So watch the video that is linked to you above & it will show it all!

I also own the Marathon & I LOVE it! It is a great seat that I am quite sure you will not be dissapointed with. It is easy to install & use everytime in every vehicle I have tried it in!

Just wondering what website you were thinking of purchasing from? I think that makes a difference than anything. If they are busy then they shouldn't have a bunch of old stock. Also I think if you pick a pattern like Jonah or Olivia that is discontinued you will be more likely to get an older DOM. With the Ashley since it is now a BRU exclusive, any website offering it probably has older stock they're trying to get rid of, or they maybe sold out and just haven't removed it from their web page (which is what I found to be the case when I tried to order it last week). I requested that my seats have a current DOM and wasn't told that would be a problem, but we'll see what arrives. I'm just hoping to get my MA's with the 35 RF limit.

I wanted to add that my Cowmoo cover stays cleaner than my Ashley Floral. The white is more of a marbled beige, it hides shoe dirt really well.

What is a RF? I am going with the cowmoofladge. I am just wondering what store would be the best and cheapest to buy from. Does the DOM matter if it has never been used?

Thanks to everyone. After seeing that video on you tube my daughter will stay rf. Also, I need to fing a current DOM for the Marathon. Albee baby said it doesn't matter. I guess it does if they expire 6 years after DOM. dDoes anyone recommend a certain website that has decent prices?:)

YAY! I am SO glad to hear she will stay RF! I LOVE it when people make the decision to keep their kids RF to the max limits of the seat!

I am considering the roundabout now...only because she won't stay in it until 65lbs. I mean why not get the cheaper one if she is going to move into a booster at 45lbs/ I am so confused. They are pretty much the same seat one is just bigger right?

I answered this on another thread- the Roundabout is much shorter than the MA. Even very small children usually outgrow it ff by age 4.

Despite giving you inaccurate info about the DOM, AlbeeBaby is generally pretty good to buy from. They have some great prices, relatively quick shipping, decent CS and sometimes you can get a very recent DOM. There's really no way to know. Some of the seats they sell are over a year old, but there have been more than a few posters here who received seats less than 1 month old from them. My MA was less than three weeks old when it arrived, which means it was only made about 10 days before I ordered it.

Something to consider with the roundabout is your dd will not be able to rear face as long as in the Marathon because of the shorter shell.

I wouldn't worry about the lack of neck pads, the ones on the Marathon aren't wonderful and bother ds sometimes (although dd thinks they make her seat more comfy)
