Lockoff for FF install on Boulevard

Okay so I know that I don't have to use the lockoff for a FF install with my BV if I have seatbelts that lock (which I do) but should I use it and lock my seatbelt?

I don't like the way the lockoff "spreads" the webbing on the belt, it seems like it is going to damage it. Anyone have pics so I can make sure mine looks right when I'm doing it.

TIA

Some posters have had them damage their seatbelts. I'm not a fan of the new style. If my seatbelt locked on its own and I could get an acceptable install, I'd skip the ff lockoff. :twocents:

I don't have any good pictures, but it's pretty easy to get right. Turn the lever vertical, slip the seatbelt webbing in, make sure it's tight and flip the lever back to horizontal. The only thing I've ever seen done wrong with it is the parent had all of the webbing buched up above the lockoff (so nothing was actually being held by it).

So do I just keep the lockoff closed and then lock the belt??? or do I open it but not "lock" it and just lock the seat belt???

One thing I've noticed with Blvds lockoffs is that when you locking and unlocking it, if you kind of slide the seat belt in the direction of the lockoff it's not as harmful to the belt. If you try to hold the belt still while twisting the lockoff it really does a number on the seat belt. It caused a little damaged spot on the belt before I learned this. Not so bad to cause the belt to fail though.

That's EXACTLY what I've done but couldn't think how to describe it!
