LATCH in booster mode- how tight?

less than 1" of movement as is required with harnessed mode?

just so it's secure?

I'm just thinking of the few posters who have had a hard time getting acceptable installs with their Frontiers- even when using LATCH. The manual is pretty clear about the 1" rule in harnessed mode, but just says "tighten" when discussing LATCH in booster mode.

The only functionof LATCH for a booster is to keep it on the seat if the seatbelt didn't get buckled after the child got out. I would just tighten it enough to take out any slack, but not worry about sitting on and pulling tight etc.

Another question. Does this mean you could use LATCH in the center of cars that don't usually allow center LATCH use?

Yes. That's what the SK engineer said in the chat we had with him last monthish  (though, the LATCH belts are supposedly really short, so they might not even fit...or the seat might sit on top of the buckles, so there are those things to consider, too).

right, that's my first thought. However there's some evidence that suggests using LATCH with a booster improves side impact performance. Maybe I'll add this to the questions for the SIP chat next week.
