Need help finding replacement seatbelt safety clip

I have searched high and low for a clip that goes on shoulder belts to keep the car seat secure. We've always had the lap belts in the back and never had to use the clip before. Our new car has the shoulder belts, and I am desperately needing a clip. I am surprised at how hard it is to find something this simple!

Anyone, please help if you can!

Thanks much,

Can you be a little more specific, please?

Do you mean the small metal locking clips that attach the shoulder belt to the lapbelt? Those are usually available from stores like Toys R Us. Century and Evenflo sell them for about $5 each, I believe. Some low back boosters come with corded "clips" that hold the shoulder belt in the right spot. For a replacement, you'd have to call the manufacturer of the carseat. The manufacturer of the carseat should also be able to sell you any approved relacement parts and accessories (including locking clips) for your carseat.

Locking clips are available free from some car dealerships

I know I have gotten them from Ford dealerships in the past. Also, every carseat that might need a locking clip should come with one. Obviously seats with built in clips such as the Fisher Price Safe Embrace convertible and the Britax seats would not have one.

And since you mentioned a new car, if the car is 1996 or newer, you shouldn't need a locking clip as federal law requires that they have some way to install carseats without locking clips. This can mean a locking or lightweight locking latchplate on the buckle or else a locking or switchable retractor on the seat belt. Please read your owner's manual for your vehicle for proper carseat installation for the type of belts it has.
