18 month old in booster

So the dad of the kids I nanny told his little guy that he'd be sitting in a booster seat in a couple months. I don't know if he was serious or just being an a$$ to get under my skin. I'm recounting this to my mom and she says, "those are their kids and you cannot do anything about it." She's also mad that he's RF in my car and FF in their car. She thinks I should follow exactly what they do.

I want to bang my head against a wall.

So my question is as a CPST (I'll have my training in a week and a half) is it my responsibility to turn someone in for negligent use. Can you turn in someone for putting a child younger than 2 and less than 30 pounds in a booster. I know the mom would never put him in a booster, but I'm with these kids 40 plus hours a week and I feel it is my responsibility to look out for their well being as well. If he was put in a booster at that age, I would quit. I cannot work for someone that is that negligent and refuses to look at the information when it is given to them. He thinks it's funny and uses a carseat probably because he knows we'd kill him if he didn't.

He was probably just joking to piss me off and it worked. This is not something I find any humor in. Grrr. Okay, done ranting...for this post at least.

Deep breath. Blow it out. He was trying to get a reaction out of you and it worked. Worry about him being in a booster when they actually buy the booster. Until then, assume he's a first rate jerk just trying to get your goat. Don't let him (too much) or he'll keep it up just to satisfy his warp sick sense of humor.

I'll let someone chime in on who/how to report seat misuse.

I would hope that was a sick joke, how awful. I beleive the only thing you can do is call and report it to the police if he's actully in an unsafe seat and IF your state law has a proper use clause i think that's how it is... then you can report it and hope that the police actully go on the call pull them over know that it's not a proper seat, ect... so how sticky they make it so easy for people to get around however they choice!!!! I just love these kids so much, like they were my own. And it makes me so upset to see this happen. His sister was put in a booster at 2, in their car and my car. I didn't know any better and I assume they didn't either. Watch he'll be in a booster in their car and still RF in mine. At least he's safe in my car, but if something ever happened to him because he was improperly restrained elsewhere, I would blame myself. :(

I told him I'd call the police (kind of in a joking voice) and he said oh well. He's a big wig attorney that specializes in medical malpractice. I don't see him a ton because of his work hours. I really like him, but he has no sense of safety or if he does, he doesn't put it into play. :(
