Here are the pictures of the built in car seat & the inflatable car seat from a fire department. The 1st picture is of the captains seat in the back of the ambulance. The seat is rear facing and is where the emt would sit and treat the patient. In the case where the seat is occupied by a child, the emt can sit on the bench which is beside the stretcher. The seat says 20-50lbs. and under 47":

The next photos are of the inflatable car seat which says 20-40lbs. and under 40" tall. It is inflated using a little air compressor and its fairly easy to install. Could not get a good install with just the lap belt so my husband says they also use a strap around the top to secure, then it was a solid install.

So cool to see it up close! Thanks for sharing.

I love the little crocodile tear in the middle pic, was she upset to be in there?

That's so interesting! Thanks for sharing. When I was in EMS (7 or 8 years ago) we didn't even carry car seats on the rigs. I remember once or twice securing an infant car seat to the stretcher for the ride in to the hospital. I do know that the ambulances in our local fire station have regular car seats, something similar to a basic Graco convertible, buckled into the end of the side bench facing forward. They are even in good condition!

When my son had to be transported last year, the medics actually seemed somewhat familiar with properly installing and belting the child in. Do keep in mind that they usually only use the car seat for non-emergent calls, though. :)

Ya, they are used for example: if mom is injured and needs to be trasported but the child is fine. If the child is also injured, another ambulance is called in to transport the child separatly.

Awww you made the baby cry :( LOL JK.
That seat must be real comfy, It's good to see they have those. I may ask my FD if they have it too. Is the seat really that narrow or does it fold in when it's occupied?
