Question for any familiar with NC and/or military bases

A friend of mine was told by an MP that carseats are NOT allowed in a pickup truck. I've never heard this. Is it possible that it's just a rule on our base (Bragg), or does this MP just not know what he's talking about?

It depends..... If the car seat is installed in a side-facing seat, then then MP is correct. Car seats can ONLY be used on forward facing vehicle seats. The other possibility is a rear facing child seat in front of an active airbag. That's not allowed either.

Otherwise, no, he was talking out of his rear end.

Yeah, this is a truck with just a regular bench, and a forward facing harnessed kid. I told her he was wrong, but wanted to be sure!

My best guess is that he was referring to the airbag. While it's not ideal, with a FF kid it at least should not kill the child.

Check the vehicle manual. If there are instructions for installing a child restraint, and you are following them, you should be able to show that to the MP if there is a next time.
