Torn Seat Belts

Has anyone know of or ever heard of any accidents where the seatbelt webbing tore on impact in a collision? I doing some research for a college project and I'd appreciate any information that people have to offer.

Cheers

I haven't ever heard of this happening, but in my mind, it would only seem likely to happen if it was a vehicle that had been involved in a crash in the past and did not have the seatbelts replaced. Seatbelt webbing is designed to be a one-time-use item and should be replaced after a crash because they stretch. The second time around, they probably won't stretch, but may break instead.

This is something I worry about because we always buy used vehicles.

Just my uneducated ramblings on the subject. :)
