Lol...Just trying ds in the seat, still waiting for DH to install it when he gets home..thought this was cute just for laughs..:D Anyway does it look like I have it the right height...I have three additional settings left for the harness, so if this works I think we will get good use... oh and I have the buckle set in the middle slot..;) Plenty of room in the crotch too:thumbsup:

Sure, he is about 48 lbs, 4 1/2yrs old. Torso is about 15" (I'm having a hard time getting that exact, he keeps slouching when I measure him) and he is about 43 1/2" tall.

That's a nice seat:) We have some old ones that the kids sit in during school time. I find the harness convenient when someone is bugging other people.

Thanks! Kind of funny, my DS is just over 4 yrs and close to the same height and torso (42" and 15ish"), but mine is only 37 lbs!! So he'd probably fit good in that seat too!

Is the seat depth enough for him? It actually looks kind of shallow-- like his thighs wouldn't be supported enough?

Well I won't be able to tell till it's in my car, I just sat it on my floor and he had his legs up in the air cause it was level with the floor, so the photos are a bit deceiving...;)

Looks to me like she has in booster mode in the house! Trust me, the seat is very deep!! Especially in the harness mode! It was so deep that it bothered the back of our ds legs! I doubt that yur ds would have a problem with the seat not being deep enough! Just my opinion.

I thought it ships in harness mode. what do you mean by I have it in booster mode. The harness straps are on and the screw in the back is still locked for the headrest... I don't understand what you mean.. Maybe it will make more sense to me when we install it.. Dh didn't get to do it yet.. hopefully by tomorrow.. I am about to try it myself.. lol.. but I know I won't be able to do it, so I will wait for him..

I think she's talking about the recline block. If you just took it out of the box and tried it out, it's probably in booster position. The manual even states that the recline block comes in booster position:

"NOTE: The default position of the recline block is booster position. You
must unhook the Versa-Tether from the storage clip (if connected) before
moving the recline block. When rotating into harness position the recline
block will lock into place. Pull to release and return to booster position."

But I did notice that all the photos on their website shown with the harness on have the block in the booster position! I can see how that would confuse a person before reading the manual. (I put the stock photo below for example)

Even if you don't wish to do the actual installation, reading the manual and exploring the seat would be a really good idea.

Wow it looks so much smaller when it's being used. and the depth really does look to shallow. One pic his legs are down and open and you can see the seat only reachs about mid thigh. This is something I had to see in person, I might ask hubby to bypass this seat and get me my Helios phone instead. :p

wow, he's leggy... my 40" daughter has a 17" torso.

But he looks like he likes the seat.

(to others who thought it looked shallow, I've thought it looked more shallow than the Nautilus, but in actuality, it measures and seems about the same)

 "We" did the same thing for one of the little special needs kids I worked with in EI. He was SOOOO busy/active, okay - hyper (He stunned the ADHD/behavior specialist observing him because he gave himself a bloody nose from literally boouncing off the walls. He had mild CP so while he was fast, he wasn't the most graceful 2 year old, especially in his AFO's.) His mom desperately needed something that would contain him for even a few minutes.

It didn't last long B4 he started climbing out (and in the moving vehicle, too ).

From there we moved to a 4" wide mesh & velcro strap from a bath seat - wrapped snugly around his torso and the back of a chair.

We worked and worked to get him to sit and play/attend for more than a few seconds. We had to have a half dozen things at hand because when he announced, "All Done," whatever he had in his hand was airborne.

Wonder what he's up to now? He'd be. . .12-13 by now. Oh the memories! :D

Hey just to clarify, I didn't have my son strapped in there to keep him out of trouble, just to check the fit.. and I happened to ask him to "pose" while he was playing playstation...lol.. just thought it was a cute kodak moment..;)

I was only referring to you having the seat in booster mode as to having the recline block towards the back! It looked to be in booster mode as far as that was concerned! I could clearly see the harness on his body but if it the recline block would have been toward the front, he would have beentilting back a whole lot! Kind of like real video rockers do! I promise that this seat is a deep seat! There will be ample room for growth for most children! I liked the look of the seat it just wasn't everything we needed starting with the harness heigth! This will probably work well for the majority of parents wanting to harness longer but with our 4.5 year old already with a 16.5-16.75 torso not enough for me to keep! I haven't heard really anyone else state that the seat hurt the backs of their childs legs here but one person did mention that in their review on one website! Our ds did not find this seat comfy for the back of his legs at all! The cupholders wouldn't stay closed but that wasn't too big of a deal to me! We now have the Regent and he likes that seat alot! I really wanted the combination seat as that would be the last seat for us to have to purchase but I guess I will have to at least purchase a booster down the road! I am sure there will be more of the latest and greatest out by that time!

You really can't go wrong with the regent if you have the room. By the time he needs the booster you could get the Monterey, which is out now and just as nice if you only need a booster, or something even better by then...Like I mentioned earlier we haven't really read the book yet to see what needs to happen on the install. Hopefully by tomorrow we can see if this seat works. crossing my fingers;) and toes:whistle::D
