Elastic on Regent to hold straps out of the way

Is that what those two black elastic straps on the cover are for? If so, how do you use them? Does anyone have a picture? We have a BV and I always attach the straps to the velcro to keep them out of the way, but I'm not sure how to do it on the Regent. What do you put through the elastic? The chest clip or something? It doesn't mention them at all in the manual. I just don't get it, but would like to!

Either the chest clip or the buckle tongues can be tucked into them. But it usually requires lengthening the harness to do so.

Since I hardly ever loosen the harness on my regents, I never use them. My kids think they are fun to hold toys or other things in.

Got me hanging :D My straps don't even reach those elastic things and they are on the second to top slot. But I am assuming the buckle goes in them. But honestly I don't have a problem with the straps just sitting in the seat. I guess it would help more for a child under 2 maybe, but I see no purpose fo them for older kids.

It's funny that you bring it up because I JUST found out what they were for about a month ago! LOL.

My 3 year old loves reaching over and "snapping" them. At least she did in the Focus where they sat much closer. The 8 year old would get so mad :)

Since we have the van... no annoying 3 year old problems anymore.

Ours reach, but we don't use them. My 8 year old can buckle herself in and doesn't feel the need to have them.

When DD2 was rfing next to DD1 in the Husky in a Grand Caravan she seemed to think the elastic was a great place to tuck her little toes into to hold her right leg up. (she propped the left leg on top of the folded up arm rest of the bench seat) Her foot there didn't seem to bother DD1, she would actually kiss DD2s foot periodically as they rode along. I wish I had a picture of that now to prove that there was actually a time when the did like each other, LOL.

My 21 month old snaps the ones on his brothers seat. They are supposed to hold the harness out of the way (as pp have said). I have always thought you use the chest clip in them, but have never tried. We never use them and just dig out the harness from behind ds.

My manual listed them on the 'numbered parts page' as the chest clip holders...not sure if the Regent manual doesn't bother mentioning them?
:)

In the old van, when we had a 2nd row bench, Xander snapped Mikayla's all the time, too. It took me forever to figure out what that sound was! He started it around 15 months!
