My son is off the charts in terms of height. We currently have a Britax Wizard but he's almost to the top of the seat. Additionally, the crotch area is too small for him and I fear is squeezing his private parts too tight. He's only 1 (he'll be 2 in a few weeks) so I can't do a booster seat yet. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do about this? Also, our car is not LATCH equipped. Thank you in advance! I'm stumped.

You could get the Britax Regent :) I just ordered it for my daughter at elitecarseats.com with free shipping. It goes to 80 pounds with harness. It does require a tether anchor over 50 pounds, though. I'm not sure on the height, maybe 53 inches?

Check your owner's manual to see if you vehicle has a top tether anchor (some do even if they don't have "LATCH") and some vehicles can have them installed by the dealer for free! When my daughter turned 3, she was 40 pounds, and even then I wasn't comfortable switching her to a booster, so the 80# limit on the Regent would be your best investment. Post as much info as you can, child's height, vehicle model and year, etc and someone on this board will have the answers! They always do!!

Yes, knowing your vehicle year/make/model, your son's exact height and weight and also torso height if possible, would help immensely. :) (To find torso height, have him sit flat against a wall. Mark the spot on the wall where his shoulders are (where the carseat straps would rest). Measure up from the floor to the spot on the wall. That is his torso height)
