CRAP!!!

DS's diaper leaked in his carseat today. IN HIS NAUTILUS!! So I took the cover off and washed it in the washer, like the manual says. One of the dang elastic straps got hung on something in the washer and ripped the cover.

Gahhhhhhh! I seriously doubt Graco is going to replace the cover even though I washed it just like the manual said. What the heck do I do??????

ETA: Called Graco just now and it *IS* covered by the warranty and they will be shipping me a new one today!!

I don't agree that Graco should replace the cover. I think this falls under "stuff happens". Stuff does happen -- things get caught in the washer, kids trip and rip the knees out of new pants, DVDs get scratched. A warranty should cover actual defects, not "stuff happens".

I see what you are saying, I guess it depends on the warranty as some cover "stuff happens", I honestly don't know how Graco feels about it. I am guessing no since most of the time it is extra warranties that cover "stuff happens" situations. I guess I just figure it never hurts to ask, as long as your upfront about what happened.

I bet Graco will replace the cover. If you washed it according to the instructions then their 1 year warranty is in effect. If you washed it in the washing machine but the instructions say hand wash only, that'd be another story. I do not believe this falls under "stuff happens"...assuming you haven't had the seat for longer than the mfg's warranty..which as we all know, is not possible. To me, "stuff happens" is when a pen leaks all over the seat, or your angry 10 year old pokes it with a pen.

I will definately be upfront. I am going to tell them exactly what happened. They replaced the chest clip on my snugride after I lost it. I know a cover and a chest clip are two totally different things but maybe they will be forgiving....

I just checked their website and they sell each part of the cover separately. I need the seat part and they sell replacements for $12. So, if they won't replace it, at least I dont have to buy the whole set.
