Headphones in carseats

Another post got me thinking about this, but I have no clue if it's an imagined risk in my mind or a true risk.

Do you think some headphones are better than others to use in carseats, or do you think any headphone that sits over top of the ears and has hard plastic is a risk in a side impact?

Just curious of others thoughts... we have the seats with SIP, but if a kid has plastic between his/her head and the SIP wing, are the headphones potentially going to cause injury in a SIP collision?

(thinking big headphones, like these ones vs. just the tiny earbud type headphones.)

Just a curious thought I had. :)

I think I would choose the earbud style over the plastic over the ear style.

On the rare occasions that I load my ipod shuffle (the clip style) with Jordan's music, I let him listen to it with earbuds. I like letting him use the ipod, because I can limit the volume at the computer, so I know he cannot have it too loud in the car. Although, we do have trouble with the earbuds staying in his ears...do they make kids' sized earbuds?

I have no clue of they make kid size earbuds or not. I know they're making some now that have the changeable ends on them, so maybe the smallest size would work well for kids?

We have big plastic wireless headphones. I am more worried about finding a booster with wide headwings so the kids can use the headphones.

They do make kid sized buds. Also the kids ones that go over the ears and behind the head.

Anyone know of any kid noice canceling head sets?

I found these Lobz ear warmer style of headphones on clearance at the BX for $4. I picked up a second pair because dd adored the pink:rolleyes: and was very comfortable wearing them whenever we're on the road for long times.
Because they're designed to go around the back of an adult's head, they fit her great when she puts them on like regular headphones. They're fairly flat and with the ultra soft padding, I don't worry much about the danger factor. The padding also keeps the really loud & sharper sounds from the DVD muffled down a bit.

The headphones also fold up to easily store in her Regent netting

Here's a picture of my DS#2 with headphones in his new Monterey. His head, with the headphones does fit between the headwings, but just barely.

I let my boys ride in their carseats with the OEM honda headphones. Only DS1 gets them however, DS2 is too young mentally to 'get it'.

I think Britax had a seat with a plug in for a CD/MP3 player at one point, too. Maybe the Big Kid, back in the day?

My kids use ear buds. My current favorite are Sony Lightweight Earbud. They come in half a dozen different colors and Target has them for $10.

Earbuds don't come in a wireless version correct?? Our headphones are wireless & we only have jacks in the DVD player not close to the seats.

Not that I know of, but I'm not up on the latest in headphone technology. ;) I barely know what a Bluetooth is (at least, I think I know what a Bluetooth is).
