Center armrest: Non-latch center position infant seat

I recently bought a 2005 Armada and was installing a Graco infant seat in the center position. As pointed out in many other posts, I avoided using the inboard latch positions for a center location of the seat. Using the owners manual as a guide, I placed the seat in the center postion but once I placed the seat into the base, I noticed that the center armrest built into the seat could come down.

I am wondering if anyone else has had any experiences with the center armrest coming into contact with a rear-facing seat.

For now, I moved the seat to the outboard position and have used latch.

We've discussed the armrest issue before i believe it was decided that if your vehicle manual says its a safe location for a car seat its safe to use. The armrest itself in most vehicles is basically a pillow so the likelihood it would come down and injure a child is small. The bigger worry is that many provide an opening into the trunk anything in the trunk could fly thru the hole in an accident.
