safely cleaning harness straps??

Ds was sick in his regent today and the straps stink! What can I do to get the stink out? I know not to use anything like febreeze or harsh cleaners, but is water the only safe thing? I really do not want to have to order a new one just to be rid of the smell! Also, can I clean the hugs?

I had good luck with baby wipes and a washcloth dampened with water and a drop of babywash. The barfy smell came out surprisingly well.

I would think you could rinse the hugs, but better wait for a tech who knows.
