Q about Roundabout

I saw that a roundabout with MY college cover is on sale for $150...I was planning on getting a Marathon for $229 when the one I want goes on sale. Is it worth buying the Roundabout for an average sized 6.5 month old? How soon do they tend to outgrow them? Our other seat is an EFTA, for my son and I will probably eventually be getting the Frontier or Nautilus.

Also, do they make these collegiate covers for Marathon? Does anyone know how the covers feel? And how can I know how old the seat is and DOM if it's an online retailer?

oh, and one more question (sorry) How long is the "life" of a Roundabout (what's the expiry?)

I just bought a collegiate Roundabout for my 7 month old as a second seat (main is a Marathon). The cover is very cushy and plush. I ordered mine from babyage.com and it is the new buckle and new 35lb RF. My 7 month old is using the lowest slots. The life is 6 years.

My roundabout was outgrown by 20 months rearfacing and we made it to 3 years forward facing before it was outgrown by height.

I loved my roundabout, but sure wish it had a taller shell and taller harness so I could use it longer. As long as you know going into a purchase that it won't be the only harnessed seat you will need to purchase before she is ready for a booster, then it is a great seat purchase. If you want something that will last longer though, another seat choice might be better.

I have a Roundabout for my 13 month old. She's tall & skinny, and I expect that she will outgrow it at around 18-20 months, which is when her sister would have outgrown it.

My DD only made it to about 20 months RF and 3 yrs FF in the RA. have you considered the Evenflo Triumph Advance? At half the price of a MA, you'll actually get a longer lifespan out of it. My DD has more room in the EFTA than in her MA.

If it were me, I'd buy it. It's a great price on a great seat, and you'll get 2.5-3 years out of it.
I adore my RA, and will be very sad when DD#2 outgrows it (though it might expire first). Lots of kids do get more use out of them than what's mentioned. Both my daughters outgrew/will outgrow it around the age of 3 as well, but they are both 97th percentile height kids. Smaller and/or short-torsoed kids will get more time from it.

Ours was just outgrown RF recently. I love the seat, but you will have to get the MA anyway in a few months so it may not be worth it unless you will have other LOs to pass it on to.

We didn't outgrow our RA until almost 4yrs and then it was by height and not weight. I moved them all straight into Regents. Now since there are more HWH options you'll have lots of choices. I loved our RA's.
