Graco snugride expiry question

Have snugride's ever been stamped with a 10yr expiry date?

I emailed someone off a local used group that her 6yr old seat was expired, and she emailed back saying that it's stamped with a 10yr expiry.

Is that possible, or is she just saying it?

Not that I know of, I've only seen 6 year expiration stamps on Snugrides/Graco seats, and also on an older Century Accel we had for DD1. Do you want to ask her if she can provide a picture of the expiry stamp for us curious folks?

Yeah, I'll reply asking her. I'm doubtful if she'll give me anything, but worth a try. :thumbsup:

Hi,

Is it the carseat itself that is stamped? As in the date molded into the plastic? Graco has only ever had a 6yr expiry date, so if it's stamped for 10yrs, than it's most odd. I'd really appreciate seeing a picture of it because I'd love to contact them and find out why they've stamped some of their seats at 10yrs when the manuals all say 6... I'm genuinely puzzled.

(Graco bought out Century/Accel and slowly merged about 6yrs ago. The older Century seats didn't have an expiry date on them, but they haven't been made since before UAS was introduced in 2002. Some of the last Century seats made also had a 6yr expiry on them, so this is why I'm so curious. ;-) )

Sounds perfect to me, especially making it sound like you're questioning Graco for stamping the seat that way, and not doubting her.

eta: I don't know why she'd argue with me about Graco expiry when I included the link from Transport Canada that states the expiry date from each manufacturer.

But figured I would double check in case there had been some snugride's originally produced with 10yr dates that I just didn't know about...

So she emailed me back and said she'd double checked the seat and it is indeed only good for 6yrs. Apparently the 10yrs was coming from what she'd seen in some other ads. Dumb TC and the old 10yr statement that too many choose to follow instead of the manufacturers expiry date.

So she's going to destroy the seat and sell the stroller by itself. :thumbsup:
