I have a question on fees. I have not found one in my area but when I look at differant classes I see they all have differant fees. I have seen one that was $900 and just saw one that was $60 I have seen other fees ie: $300, $100, $250. Why is there a differant fee for the classes?

Don't quote me on this but I think some of it comes down to funding. And what isn't covered under the funding they recieve, they have to charge the attendees. I'm not 100% on that but that's what I've heard.

The $60 is the fee to the "big" agency - all classes have this, though some have funding to cover it for attendees. This covers paperwork, processing, etc.

The other fee is for the expenses associated with the class - meeting space, salary, etc. Again, if there is funding, they don't need to pass the buck. But, not every agency is able to get grant money, you know? The classes are supposed to be the same - universal curriculum, etc.

My class in Nebraska was a little over $100. I don't remember for sure. It has been 3+ years ago and 2 kids ago. Memory is leaving me. I sent letters out to several local community groups and the Rotary Club paid for my whole cost of the class. I found friends to babysit and either drove myself or rode with another gal that was taking the class and driving a company car. We drove about 45 minutes to get to the class each day. Hope you can get in a class and get certified.
