Doesn't look like they even had it going through a path - you can see at the very end that the belt bounces back into the seat. They've just got it going around the back of the seat and not going in any designated slots at all. I wonder if there are really people out there that clueless?

It reminds me of a seat that was on the market 13 or so years ago. I don't recall who it was made by but was a very shallow belt path.

OH MY is right!! Any article or comments that went along with the video?? Were they trying to make a point? Sure scared the heck out of me the first time I watched it.

I'm not sure its buckled or maybe it came unbuckled but to me it looks like one of those seats by Jane in Europe. I remember reading the instructions for a few of their seats on the website (a while back a woman posted about them) most of them didn't not have belt paths like our seats do. It was more like the older style seats (late 80's) that you wrap the belt around the seat and put a locking clip in it and then slip it into a little dip (a dip like infant seats use when not used using the base) for FF and a clip on the back to hold the shoulder belt for RF and no other belt path but a place to lay the belt that looked similar to where you run the belt across on the laptop.

i hate to piggy back myself but why not?

i found the information that goes along with the test video:

http://www.oeamtc.at/netautor/html_seiten/kisitest_2003/teamtex_safety_baby_basic.html

It is of course not in english but you can see the seat from the front and try to make sense of the rest of the test info.

What is really scary is this is not the seat that fared the worst on the tests! Its 3rd from the bottom going best to worst! heres a complete lists of all the seats they tested. some of them are somewhat 'out there' compared to ours.

The little "dippy" clip thingy looks like it failed. Plus, the lap belt looks like it runs underneath the seat to a degree (a la Combi Connection). This is one reason why I like closed belt paths. If something fails the seat will generally not go flying through the front window like that.
