Yesterday we got a new Turbo Booster for 6 1/2 year old DS for a back up seat for the rare ride in DH's car or with Grandma, my car is the family car so its where the kids pretty much always ride. After I put it together in the living room and had DS come sit in it against the wall to adjust the head rest, and his first comment was "Hey! Where's the harness? That's not safe!" We reassured him that it would be ok to use it if he has to ride in Dad's car. DH says I have brainwashed the poor kid, lol. DS has questioned us about it a few times, so I don't know if he will be willing to ride in it now if he has to go in Dad's car! We may have to buy another Nautilus and leave the TB at Grandma's house. And this from a kid that was re-harnessed just 2 weeks ago after 2 years of riding in a combo booster with a seatbelt! But he really LOVES his Nautilus. We won't be able to get another Nautilus right away, we have bought a GN, EFTA, Scenera and a TB in the past 2 weeks. The kids have all new seats for both cars.

I've had similar issues with DD. She was harnessed in both cars for a while, then she outgrew the MA by height. While waiting for the Radian, she was in a booster. So the Radian gets here, and she needs to know it's safer for her... but if it's safer, what's with the booster?

We just tell her the truth, that the harnessed seat is as safe as we can make her, but that a properly used booster is still safe, just not as safe. And that we're willing to make the trade-off in a car she doesn't ride in often.
