CARES harnessing system for airplanes

From www.kidsflysafe.com:
Now there is an easier, better way to fly safe with kids!
Just carry a CARES in your pocket or purse, install it on the airplane seat in one minute, and turn any airplane seat into a safe airplane seat for your child!

CARES (“child aviation restraint system”) is the first and only FAA approved harness type child safety device;

CARES is an innovative restraint for kids 22-44 lbs that attaches directly to the back of the airplane seat and augments the regular seat belt;

CARES weighs 1 lb, fits in a 6” stuff sack and is FAA certified for all phases of flight – taxiing, take off, turbulence and landing;

CARES fits all size airplane seats and takes one minute to install!

CARES takes the hassle out of flying with kids and keeps them as safe as a car seat!

Pros:
This is great for someone who has a car seat on both ends of the trip, and has a physical problem carrying a car seat through an airport. It fits in a small bag and weighs about a pound. It's pretty easy to use if you read the instructions, and comes with a DVD to show a proper install.

Cons:
No crotch strap, so my 2.5 year old kept sliding down, pulling the seat belt up over her belly (I had to keep reminding her to scootch her tushie back!). It also gives the child easy access to the super-easy-to-open airplane seat belt, so a less "mature" child could unbuckle him/herself repeatedly. The way the harness works also makes it impossible for the person sitting behind the child to use their tray, unless the trays are recessed. There's also a potential for misuse, which I guess is an issue with any type of child restraint.

So that's my 2 cents on the CARES system. I don't love it, and won't use it unless it's just my child and me flying together alone. In instances like that, though (which tends to be the majority of our trips), it's convenient and not difficult to use properly.
