"If the shoulder belt cannot be properly positioned:
-Move the child to one of the seats with a lap belt only (if equipped)
OR
-If the child is the appropriate size, restrain the child in a safety seat"

do most older vehicles say this?... its only a '96!

My 95 ford says "move the child closer to the buckle, so the shoulder belt doesn't rest as high" :thumbsdown: . The old fashioned tricks to make them "fit" the seat belt earlier :rolleyes: . If the child still fits the child restraint or booster seat they should definately be using that. It seems like it was a fairly standard reccomendation back then.
