I saw a Cosco Safe-T-Seat yesterday

IN USE :jaw:

In a brand new Hummer nonetheless
What the heck goes through some parents heads?
I commented on how I rode in on as a toddler 20+ years ago, and that I was pretty sure it was expired but the mom didn't seem to care :(

It probably was the mom's seat seeing as how old it is - unless mom is older...

Yeah, I really don't get how people fork out big bucks on a vehicle and then put a dangerous hunk-of-junk seat in their vehicle and use it for their most precious cargo.

I saw an old OHS seat in a brand new pick-up (extended cab, a package on it that meant it had the blinkers on the mirros...) so it would've probably been worth at least $50K (CDN market.) From the glance I got of the pattern the seat is expired... I'll admit I'm really down on OHS seats since reading the reports of kids who died from strangulation in them though. (Yes, misuse was involved, but holy freaky... how glad I am that they're not sold in Canada anymore so far as I know, (don't think they've been available for 3 or 4yrs now?)

But if you're shelling out that much money for a truck, go buy a car seat that isn't expired for goodness sakes.

I bet if you had made some sort of mention about 'Too bad the seat pattern clashes with her new Hummer', a new seat would have been purchased fairly quickly. :p

OMG... was it installed properly?? LOL. How do you install them with anyways? I've never seen one like that before.

What an idiot.

LOL no kidding! Even better "Ooo, the new Nautilus pattern would match your interior perfectly!"

Oh. my . word.

I think I would either have been flabbergasted and speechless or really brassy and said " Geez, with this vehicle I'd think you could afford a decent carseat!"

I see this all the time in the area I live. Lots of money spent on cars and clothes but kids seat, not so much. I think I will use the matching line since most are worried about keeping up apperances more then safety.

OMG! I remember those Cosco ones. I remember our Ames department store carried them back in the early - mid 90s!

I wonder if Classic seats can dig us up a photo?

Ohhhhhh Classic Seats???? :)

I guess she spent all her money on her new car and gas, so she cant afford a new seat, not even a Scenera.

Goodness, it was discontinued ~20+ years ago  :dizzy:

What I really don't get about parents with ghastly unsafe seats is ... well, at the very least, aren't they even the slightest bit concerned about how COMFORTABLE their kid is :scratcheshead:

where would you even find a seat that is 20+ years old. what did you save it in your attic for sentimental reasons...you want to pass it down to your kids. i have a super old infant carrier/car seat box that currently stores a ceramic christmas tree and i laugh at the picture on the box year year i take it out.i couldn't imagine using that as a seat. ti doesn't even look safe.

LOL, you should meet my uncle! He's a hoarder. He saves EVERYTHING. He'll even pick up other people's junk - not because it's something he needs or can find a use for, just because he hates to see anything go to waste. His mentality is "Someone, somewhere might need this... someday..."

When we were helping him load some of his stuff, I found an old shield booster. I snuck it off to my car, then asked my aunt if I could have it. ;) He's got too many grandkids, and I was afraid one of them would wind up in it. And he'd have been more than happy to give it to me, if I'd intended to actually put one of my kids in it!
