Good news/Bad news

Took Nadia to the doctor today. She fell out of bed Sunday night, and she was still in pain.

The good news is, she's still only 28.6 lb, so she'll have lots more time rear facing in her Roundabout & then in the Marathon.

The bad news is, she has a broken clavicle. :( Have to go to the orthopedic doctor tomorrow. I doubt they'll to much, besides possibly putting it in a sling. It's not like they can put a cast on it.

I have to say, it was so nice to have a medical staff that actually gives a damn. I've been dealing with Army hospitals for so long I'd almost forgotten that it's not that way everywhere.

Oh no, sorry to hear that. Hope she's not slowed down by it too much. Did they give you something that's helping the pain? I remember my older daughter falling off our bed when she was about that age. She landed on her head. My husband felt the thud at the other end of the house ( it was a small house!), but she was ok. :) Glad the Dr. experience was good, that always helps! My friend's dd practically drowned, was resucitated by mom and when they got to the hospital the Dr. wanted to know 'who the **** was responsible'!!!! THAT did not help matters at all.

Won't have IM until I get my computer out of storage, and that won't happen until we have our own house. Right now, I'm really hoping for the beginning of December, but it depends on when hubby finds a job. He's working with a job finding/consulting firm now, which has helped, I think. He's only been using them for 2 weeks, but they've totally redone his resume and done some practice interviews. Hopefully, he'll be doing REAL interviews by the end of the month, and if he gets an offer soon after, a December 1 move in date isn't impossible.

Update...

On the way to the ortho today, DH called me to say his car broke down on the way to jury duty. He walked to the courthouse, and called my dad who was able to take care of getting the vehicle towed. I think it's dead-dead, so that will be the end of our 2nd vehicle. Fortunately, FIL left for a business trip this morning, so hubby can drive his car until he gets back on the 18th.

Meanwhile, the ortho charged us $480 to spend 3 minutes with us. He didn't take xrays (we brought copies of the films taken yesterday at our doctor), and didn't even really examine her. He said they don't do anything for clavicle fractures. He could give her a sling, but that wouldn't stop her from trying to use the arm; it would just irritate her. She's free to do anything that she wants, because at this age, she won't do anything that hurts.

Basically, he could have done all that over the phone, and I'm feeling a bit of righteous idignation at the bill. (I plan to call them when it arrives to say, "THIS IS OUTRAGEOUS. What can you do to lower it?") He wants to see her again in a month. I'm calling our Family Practice doc to see if she can do the follow up instead, as she charges less than $100 for a visit, and I LIKE her.

Today is the weekly homesschoolers park day. I really hate to miss it, because it's probably one of the last of the season, but I probably won't be able to do it. If hubby doesn't need me to pick him up from jury duty, I'll try to go out for an hour or two. The kids love it so much.

I was supposed to go see Serenity (again) with my dad this afternoon, but it looks like that won't be happening, either. Grrr!

And, with all of that, I'm really not feeling to horribly worried. I'm mostly just impatient for hubby to get an awesome job offer.

Whoa! 480 IS outrageous
Fingers crossed for dh, I'm sorry he's having a tough time (my dh did, too, after getting out of the Navy.....it's no fun, but temporary).

I hope Nadia heals up faster than Roman's ankle did!

:)

Wow, they don't even usually charge insurance companies $480 for a consult.

I hope the job situation all works out for you. There's always Chicago;-)

When it rains, it pours, eh? $480 for 3 minutes is waaaaay more than even my attorney dh bills his corporate clients. Hope she's feeling better soon!
