I am just wanting a good "user" review. I know we've gotten pics and all from jdchic - which was great. Just wondering what it is like to use and install and all. Thanks:love:

And I want to know if it can/can't be tethered rear-facing. Someone posted, in another thread, that it can't be, but I don't know where they obtained that information.

I don't believe it can be tethered rfing. This was discussed in another thread. Maybe I should buy one to play with - I could always return it:whistle: I htink I have carseat buying issues.

I think that's where I read it too, but nobody said where this info was coming from? I mean, did someone read the manual? or get the info directly from the company?

And yes, I think you should go buy one and try it....now....please. :D

If I could buy one locally, I would:love: But to have to ship it back, well, I don't know!
Okay, okay, I won't make you buy one then! ;)

I also want to know what the Casino colour looks like in real life (want to know if it's a true gray or if it has any brown in it - more taupe-like?).

we just got them at buy buy baby......i work there.....i played with it today and i dunno if iike it. you can only use the bottom two harness positions rf and for ff you can use position 2,3, and 4. pg 36 of the manual.

the harness adjuster is low and you can't tether rf. but the padding is nice and it has nice lock-offs. lets see if we sell any!

sorry for the lower case writing....other hand nursing ds!

Someone on the board has been emailing the company about this and she was told that you CAN use higher positions for RF. So, what she was told seems to contradict what is in the manual...ARGH!

the harness adjuster is low and you can't tether rf.
ARGH again. I wish they had it tethering RF. I believe I will have to eliminate just for that.

Thank you for the information!

Can you get the wording from the manual regarding the harness positions for rfing and ffing? I had had someone at Compass talk to an engineer about that questions and they said I could use harness position 3 for rfing. I'm anxiously waiting for someone to purchase one to tell us how they like it. I have to wait for the Casino cover b/c it's the only one that matches my car.

Actually I took a picture of that page with my cell phone, but it came out kind of crappy....but this is what it looked like....

SHOULDER HEIGHT POSITIONS

Facing Directions - Positions

Rear - 1 & 2
Forward - 2, 3, & 4

I will photocopy the page at work tomorrow night and upload the copy. But for sure, it is not only in the manual that states you can only use the two bottom slots RF, the adjuster on the side of the seat also shows 1 & 2 are for RF and 2, 3, & 4 are FF. It is color coded! Blue is RF, red is FF.

ARG! Thanks for that information. I had sent the rep a picture of the side of the seat (via e mail) and asked her to find out about using the 3rd position. She said it was fine. I just re-emailed her with what you have told me and asked her if they will be redoing the manual or are they advising me to use the seat against what is printed in the manual.

I want this seat for DS so he can RFace for an extra two pounds but he is mostly torso and I'm worried I will need the extra harness height. I wish there was a store near me that carries this seat but I haven't found one yet.

Does anyone know if USA Baby will/or does carry this seat?

The not rf'ing tethering came from a post that another member made quite awhile back after talking to some Compass engineers IIRC.

Compass is very strongly against rf tethering and they will not allow rf tethering. I don't know if they tested it that way or not... Maybe if you do a search for compass and tethering you'll come across the more detailed post?

Some friends of mine just got one last week for their 11-month old and all I know is they said they loved it (I had recommended it to them, and they pre-ordered, and then I started biting my nails about it after the review was posted here). I will be looking at it as soon as I see them next--maybe Tuesday. I know that's a long time to wait, though ;). If no one else has shared by then, I'll post back after I see it.

I love mine and it was REALLY easy to install (we used the centre lap belt, my car doesnt have LATCH), it doesnt move at all and seems really solid. The lockoffs were a little hard to close but that was it - easy otherwise.
My car is a 1997 subaru outback

Levi really likes the seat too, he can see out of the window better than his other seat, but it still cradles him and the SIP looks really good. I like the fabric as well - so far he hasnt gotten sweaty in it, which he usually does when he falls asleep at home even if its cold! It very comfy, I sat in it to try it out!

The only issue Ive had is the straps got loose on their own (I usually leave them tightened all the time), but it only happened once and seems fine now. So far they havent been twisty, and the chest clip is easy to use and stays in place.

Overall, I really like it.

We just got two True Fits in the Casino color. The revised manual (on the Learning Curve website) says positions 1, 2, & 3 can be used RF. It cannot be tethered RF. The color seems to be true grey, it goes with the grey interior of my car pretty well.

I am using both seats RF, one with the headrest and one without. The one with the headrest is on the 3rd height setting and the one without is on the 2nd height setting with the "height" padding in. The thick "height" padding cannot be used past 22 lbs.

The installs went pretty well in my 2006 Toyota Corolla, although I did have to use noodles to get them more reclined. I am using LATCH instead of the seatbelts because I couldn't get as tight of an install with the seatbelts. The buckles came up just a little too high for the RF beltpath. I think it will be easier for FF because the FF beltpath looks higher. The only thing that made it a little harder for me was the lockoffs because you have to use them no matter what kind of belts you are using, including LATCH. The LATCH belt wanted to slide down out of the lockoff and then I couldn't close it. I finally figured out a little better way to do it, by pushing down and pulling on the left side (no adjuster) and the doing the lockoff there before pushing down and tightening the other side (with the adjuster) and then locking off that side with the tail of the LATCH belt in the lockoff. I am happy they have the lockoffs though because I may need to use them in my parents car that does not have locking seatbelts.

I have yet to have any twisting of straps. I threw me off a little at first when buckling because of the continuous strap. Often, one side will be looser, so I just put the kid in and then pull both straps straight out at the same time to even them out before buckling. It's kinda nice now though, I rarely have to actually loosen or tighten the straps with the adjuster (which is a little difficult to get at because it is against the back of the seat) because if it's a little tight to get their arm through, you can just pull some more slack from the other side and you're not squeezing their arms in and out.

I really like these seats and so do my boys. The fabric is great, soft in the center and suede-like on the sides, which is nice because shoe velcro will not pull the fabric like on some meshy seat covers. The strap covers are the soft fabric and the padding goes off and on without having to move the seat. Strap height is so easy to adjust, it will be ideal if you have to transport different kids sometimes.

Let me know if you have any other questions!

I love the Truefit! My ds fits in it really well-he's skinny so this fits his body style nicely. I love how the straps adjust and I like the lock-offs. I also like, which many don't, that the straps "talk" to each other. I can borrow some from the other side to get my ds in better (if that makes any sense).

We have the Misty Morning. And I like that it's mostly black/gray with some lt. blue piping.

We installed it, easily, in the middle bench seat of our 2006 Chrysler T&C. Yes, it's rear-facing. My ds' torso is about 12" and he's on the second from the bottom slot. I love how the straps adjust and I also like the lock-offs.

I have a thread about this. I spoke with someone besides a CS rep and was told it is outdated. There is another manual for the TF on elitecarseats.com. That is the updated manual. The 01/08 manual is the old and the 03/08 is the updated one. http://www.car-seat.org/showthread.php?t=44498

ETA: I just realized this is a older post.
