Would you be upset?

I just ordered and received a SS1 from Albee Baby. The ordering and shipping went well, and I got a great price ($139.99 when MSRP = $179.99). I took out the seat and checked the DOM, only to find out that it was manufactured 01/19/07!!! I've lost over a years worth of use already. HOWEVER, before I go ape and contact Albee Baby, I want to know if that's something I should've expected. I did get it on sale, after all. Also, I don't "think" we'll be having any other children so I shouldn't have any problem getting our money's worth within the remaining 4(?) years of use.

WWYD? Would you contact Albee Baby and request a new seat? Or, would you just leave well-enough alone?

It is fairly common -- I've called in advance to ask what the DOMs are.... However, if I didn't have a younger kid to hand the seat down to & it was on sale, then I probably would not bother (as long as kiddo would likely fit until the expiration)

When I bought my SafeSeat it was already over a year old. I bought it from a B & M store. I had DD and DH with me at the time and forgot to check it out. I thought about returning it, but ended up not. No more kids for us, so I figured I didn't need that year. And it wasn't worth the hassle.

I know what you mean. I ordered a Marathon from Amazon a few weeks ago but because of all the reports of the seats having an older DOM, I refused delivery today :( I ordered an Uptown instead, that'll be here next week :)

Thanks for your comments. I cooled down and decided it wasn't worth the effort. I have had such good luck on DOM's prior to this that it was a bit of a shock. Still, without another kid to hand it down to, I'll just leave well enough alone!
