The other day I plopped DD (11 months) into her Radian and strapped her in. I don't usually loosen straps any more (PITA adjuster mechanism dissuades me), and was surprised that the harness just seemed too tight. I jiggled her around a bit, and finally loosened the straps just a little to get her in. Then, looked around for the rattle she usually plays with in the car... couldn't find it. A few brain cells finally got into gear, and I reached under her (hard to do, with the harness tight, LOL), and felt the missing toy under her bottom. I removed it, and, lo and behold, was able to tighten the harness back up. DD apparently won't be auditioning for the 'princess and the pea' role -- she didn't make a peep, despite having a 3" diameter rattle toy wedged under one cheek .
So, I apparently have to add 'no sitting on toys' to 'no puffy jackets under the harness straps' on my mental checklist. There seems to be no end to the dumb mistakes one can make when installing one's child in a carseat .
