How are drum gears used to improve lumbar support?

In the manual of my new car it says that there are wires inside my car seat giving lumbar support and that drum gears are used to increase the area of support.
Could anyone explain me what drum gears exactly are and how they are used in a car seat?

Educated Guess

The seat is basically made like your favorite lazy boy recliner.

Metal wires with foam attached to them covered by your choice of leather, cloth, plether (plastic leather, aka vinyl.)

A drum gear: Picture a rolling pin.

Picture that rolling pin at the base of the seat-back in your vehicle.

Now, picture a Star at the end of the rolling pin.

This is all inside the seat.

Now, picture a second star slightly above the star that is attached to the rolling pin.

The second star has a knob that goes through the side of the seat. When you turn the knob, it rotates the star. The legs or "teeth" of the star are meshed with the other star attached to the rolling pin.

The rolling pin now moves up or down depending on the direction you turn the other star.

this is only a guess. I googled it and didn't find anything.

probably used in a very similar manner for the car seat as an automotive seat.
