CPS Tech Training

I went to the first Safe Kids meeting for the school year in the Juneau area today and am singned up for the CPS Certification class in October! I'm very excited about it, can't wait to get my certification, I see so many kids here who should be in seats that aren't. Also, the person who cordinates the seat check events is moving so I'm going to be taking over that position, it's part time and it's even a paid position.:D I wasn't expecting to be offered a job when I went, but it will be great for me to be able to do a little work while still being a SAHM. So, any tips from the pros for the class?? Just wanted to share my good news!

Tell us how the classes go. :)

Congrats! I just got a great tech job dropped in my lap. It's great getting paid to do what you love!

I haven't actually started yet, so unfortunately I don't have any recommendations as to what to do. But a big one I've seen so far is communication. Get yourself out in the community and tell them SK is there, make information about events readily available, and put ads in newspapers if the budget is there :)

Good luck!

Thanks guys! I am so excited about it, now I will have a certification to back up my car seat addiction, lol! My downstairs neighbor works for the state and is the one who got me involved in Safe Kids, she said they are very excited to have me join the team, it's about time they had some new blood around here. Today when she got home she brought me some things, we are going to get together next week and figure out exactly what I am going to be doing. It's hard to even get seats here in Juneau, the only store that carriers them is Fred Meyer, not many stores will ship to us here. I am going to see if we can get seats thru someone else, we can't even get infant carriers, just the Cosco Touriva and booster seats. It's amazing how few people here know what seat their children should be in. They even get calls from the hospital quite often that they are discharging a new mom who doesn't have a seat at all for their baby  ! I might get to do some traveling next year, we have the Car-Seat Check Up Van here and it goes to all of SE Alaska. I will fill you all in when I find out more!
