I moved your post to the Canadian/International forum, because there are some differences between what you have and what's available in the US.

Why does he need a new booster?

All seats have to pass the same tests to be able to be sold in Canada so all seats would be considered safe.

Apparently there is a new seat that is going to be available sometime in March that will LATCH to the vehicles and will hold children up to 120lbs. If you could wait a bit, I would watch for this one, the sunshine kids monterey and it is discussed here.

We have a new one coming out (hopefully this april) called the Monterey. It can be LATCHed into the vehicle so there is no more remembering to buckle up unoccupied boosters. It also will accommodate kids up to 5'3" tall and 120lbs and the back can be removed to make it a backless booster.

If you do a search for Monterey on this forum, you'll be able to see the specs and different features I haven't mentioned here.

The TB is fine as a booster... if he still fits in that, there is no need to actually move him to another seat unless you want to.

The Britax Parkway is another favourite of mine.

Britax makes a Canadian parkway, which is a really nice booster, with SIP and no armrests so it is easy to buckle. That said, my DD of the same weight found it too confining and squishy for her taste (although I know some posters here who have 10 and 11 year old kids riding in parkways with no complaints), and we ended up getting the evenflo confidence. It doesn't have the sip wings of the parkway, but does have EPS foam in head, side wings and seat area, and also has no armrests, so easy to buckle. It is really adjustable, fits bigger kids well, and converts to backless. My DD still rides extremely comfortably in it at 8+ years, and 85+lbs. We have been really happy with it, but I would still prefer the parkway for the deeper wings for a younger child. There is also the compas, which is pretty good in terms of SIP, and then really the turbo is an ok booster too there is nothing wrong with a highback turbo! ...THe best is yet to come though, we are slated to have the Monterey, in April which is a FANTASTIC looking booster if you can wait that long, it is LATCHable, has great SIP and is very adjustable...HTH
