Car Safety Project

Hi everyone,

I'm a high school student in an engineering class, and as part of a project I am researching/designing my own solution to the problem of hyperthermia deaths in children who are left unattended in cars. I am in need of "experts" - that is, anyone whose profession in some way deals with car safety, infant/child safety, or who has experience in any area related to my project - to evaluate my ideas and my project. If any of you know would be willing to help, or know of someone who would be willing to help, I would highly appreciate it! Evaluating my project would simply consist of reading background information and answering some questions over email or phone.

Here's an idea - teach parents to put their handbag in the back seat of the car with their child, then the child is not forgotten.

Good luck - there are plenty of threads on here about this issue - use the search opition and research it first, then bring your concerns and questions foward.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the page there is a dedicated google search button that will search only this forum. That should be a great start to your research.

Do you have any questions that you want to ask the forum in the meantime? You will get a lot more varied and informative answers by just posting in the thread than relying on individual e-mails.

Thanks for the replies.
The thing is, I need these expert evaluators as part of my grade. I've already done a lot of the research, and now I need to find some people who can give me evaluations, as these professional evaluations are part of my grade in the engineering class.
I would appreciate if you guys could point out anywhere where I can find contact information for such experts. I have no problem communicating through the forum, as long as I can get these evaluators' opinions.

I'd love to hear about your ideas. There have been a few products that have been tried on the market and a few that are currently available.
I can think of a couple of critiques off the top of my head: it shouldn't interfere with the harness in any way, it shouldn't replace any parts that come with the seat, and it shouldn't add padding to the seat.
Neat idea for the school project, btw.
