Removing LATCH from convertibles

So I've been really irritated with the latch strap that is permanently connected to the GN. It gets all twisted in there behind the cover and interferes with the seat belt install. Well I had it today, and pulled out the plastic screw that was holding the thing in place.

Do you think it's still okay to use the latch strap without it being connected to the seat?? I don't use the latch connectors because I hate the hook style attachers. (They are impossible to remove in my car.) But if I end up letting somebody use the seat or sell it, I'm wondering if it's okay to include the latch strap.

Any thoughts??

Now that I think about it, I've cut out all the connected latch straps on my seats, minus the britax/chicco ones. I really detest those freaking hooks.
