Reinstalling the MA and noticed a potential problem?

Hi everyone, hope you're having a great weekend!

We had to use the MA in my mom and dad's car and I just reinstalled it in our 2006 Chrysler Pacifica. I don't remember noticing this the first time in our seats, so that's why I wanted to check. When I first placed the car seat in the captain's chair I couldn't get the bottom of the car seat flat against the vehicle seat. I had to recline the vehicle seat a little to set the car seat to lay flat. Is that okay? I have a super tight install, but there's a pretty big recline. Dh has the car and dd is home with me, so I can't take a picture. As soon as he's back I'll take a pic if you think it would be helpful to see.

Thanks!

My Marathons do the same thing because of the curve the back of them have. I just pull the base away from the seatback a little bit, which still leaves a gap at the back (between the base and seat bottom). Then I put all my weight in the seat (pushing down into the seat bottom) while tightening the seatbelt and get a rock solid install with no gaps (base completely flat).

You can recline the captain's chair up to 2 clicks, but I'm almost positive any more than that is not okay.

I have noticed this happening as well. Sometimes removing the vehicles headrest will help. I usually just pull the seat away from the back a bit until I notice the base sitting more flush with the seat bottom. Once tightened you will notice the gap will disappear or not be as noticeable.

In general it is not advisable to recline a vehicle's seatback. A little recline isn't bad to achieve a good install though :)

Thanks gals! I think I'm going to uninstall in the morning and put the seat upright just to see how many clicks it's reclined now. I'll make sure not to recline more than two clicks and then reinstall. Pulling the bottom of the seat out seems to make a lot of sense, so I'll definitely try that!

Thanks a bunch!
