Mission

OK I'm on a mission. There was a post with a link to some pages that showed proper/improper uses of car seats so now I'm gonna finally push my dd school to take action. What I want to do is print out a car safety packet and present it to the school Social Worker in hopes they will print out enough for all the parents then about two weeks later have it as one of there school meeting topics. OK so what I need is:
Something stating the law. NJ
Websites that show the result of misuse.
The link with all the higher weight car seats (can't find it).
The link with the proper/improper use.
Alternatives/temporary suggestions till some parents can afford to purchase a new seat.

So far that's all I can think of, any suggestions woul dbe appreciated.

My dh doesn't really care for this stuff (I try), But he came home today saying he saw a mother just tell her child to get in the car and left him there to jump around as she drove off, and there was a car seat in the car. So now I want to put something in action.

Thanks Amy. I'm a bit disappointed :( I thought there would be more enthusiasm and encouragement. I plan to go to the social worker tommorrow and not only request they send home these packets but to also have a car safety month. Hopefully if they teach the children then they could in turn also teach thier parents. I'm actually quite shy and I'm sure they are going to want me to do more than just supply this info to them so I really could use some encouragement. :)
I would also like to know if there are any CPS techs in northern NJ area.

Honestly, I didn't respond initially, because I couldn't tell by the wording of your post if you were just informing the board of what your intent was, or if you were asking the members of the board to do your research for you.

I didn't want to post a reply of "Good idea! Let me know your results.", if you were actually looking for the answers to the list of topics of information you wanted in your pamplet. (most of which can be found if you use the search function on the board.)

I know you probably want it to move more quickly, but I would probably talk to the school about doing this to coincide with National Child Passenger Safety Week. (which I think is in September). I just think it may create more credibility for the other parents. I would definately try to contact techs in your area. Maybe they could arrange to do a seat check one day that week after school.
