Pics of my oldest in her infant seat

I found these pics of Aimee in her infant seat in 1992. It was a Century Infant Love Seat. At least I didn't have her in a heavy snowsuit and the straps look tight . No buckles on this thing, you had to loosen and tighten each time and just pull the straps aside to get baby in and out. We got her this from a hospital loaner program after taking her home in an Evenflo Kantwet One Step. At least I knew she didn't look right riding in that and got her the infant seat. Boy, I am so glad I never got in a really serious crash while she was in the nastiest seats!

haha It looks like a laundry basket with a backrest. I always wonder if people will be looking back at our Britax Boulevards and Recaro Signos in 20 years, and thinking geez, that thing looks ancient!

I would have said a padded infant bathtub. LOL

I wonder the same thing. Already looking back, Piper was born in 2002. I bought her an Advantage because the Marathons weren't quite out yet. She was born before *most* of the HWH seats were out. And she's only 5.5!!

A friend of mine had that infant seat and she hated the harness so much that she just didn't use it. She just put baby in and buckled the seatbelt around the seat.

I may be showing my age (or lack thereof) here, but in some of my baby care books I've seen drawings of infant seats, and they look like that. I always thought..dang this book is kinda old (I buy them at the thrift store and used book store), but when the heck did they make seats like THAT? Not as long ago as I thought, apparently. Until this pic I'd never seen one in real life. I guess I just wasn't around babies at that time. My youngest sister was born in 83.

My brother rode in that kind of seat and he was born in 1973! I bought one of those at Walmart in the early 90s for 20$ I used it for my doll!
It was one of the safest of its time, my mother said.

Ohh, that is scary. I'll have to see if I can get my mom to let me take on my brother's pics with him in his seat. He was born in 88 and she has a pic of him in a century seat with probably two layers of crocheted baby blankets underneath him and no harness in sight. But even that seat looked newer and nicer then the baby love.

According to this they were discontinued before 1990. I remember friends of my parents using one for their baby.

How would you adjust the recline on that thing? Or would you not even bother?

I used to work for a hospital children's center, and there was a storage room FULL of those things! ( The hospital would loan them out free to any parent who asked.) They were pretty scary!

Wow that is funny looking. Looks like a bathtub LOL. My oldest was born in 2000 we brought her home in a brand new Graco seat. with a base.

That's what we had in our family when we were kids. The guy who helped develop the idea of those seats here in NZ says it was and [he claims] still is one of the best infant seats.

LOL :D
