Nautilus or Radian?

So I'm going to get my ds (2 years old and just over 30/31 lbs.) a new seat. He's currently in a Marathon but likes to self board (do it the SELF!) and I would like to get him something lower down.

So it's between a Nautilus and a Radian 65. I have a Radian for dd (new) and we really like it. But maybe the Nautilus is a nice seat for $50 less? What would be the advantage of the Radian? (seeing as how at this point he is FF in his Marathon since his weight tends to fluctuate).

Any input?

Radian is easier for the child to climb into and allows for some more rear facing time.

and by the time he needs a booster there may be something better than the GN.

The GN has thin padding too.

I have both, and I really prefer the gn. Even though I ordered the wider tongue things 4 times, I got a chest clip. Gave up. I just used the radian this weekend and was really unhappy with the harness. I would not say the gn is lightly padded. Ds prefers it too. Ds also has a lot more growth room in the gn.

While the radian is lower to the seat, ds didn't seem to mind.

For a forward facing child, unless you need the narrow profile of the Radian, get a Nautilus. The Nautilus is a very nice seat. It will last longer in harnessed mode since the slots are higher, and then it turns into a nice booster, too. The Nautilus is also roomier than the Radian which is good for big kids who are only getting bigger.
