Success - 2 kids rear facing and one extended harness

I used to send out emails about car seat safety or mention things in conversation, and I know that all my family/friends think I'm cuckoo as DS RF until 3. I gave up. Then I read Jools post about the Riley Hospital study on kids rear facing are 5 times safer, and I decided to send out one more. Maybe the difference this time was that the article mentioned that the 1 yo and 20lb limit might get changed, or that John Andretti, a racing car driver, advocates rear facing to protect our precious cargo.

On mum replied and said she was flipping her just 1 yo back around - YAY.

Another mum that I see several times a week was over, and she said she'll keep DC #2 rear-facing until 2yo. This was a very big YAY as he has Down's Syndrome with low muscle tone, and from the little I know, I thought RF would be even more important for him.

Then she asked about DC#1 as he's nearly 40lbs and one of his seats has a 40lb limit. His other seat is a MA that she got on sale at my urging, so that's fine. She said she didn't want him in a booster. I told her about the Nautilus. They have a little bit of time, so hopefully it'll be more available when they need it.

I then mentioned expiration dates as I know the 40lb seat was a hand-me-down from trusted friends. And I talked about the Britax 10 yr old seat that the harness ripped out of, and I showed her with her snugride what that would mean. She went white, and asked me to send her that picture. I'm also going to send the videos of RF v FF and FF v booster, so she can see that what she decided to do today was the right thing to do for her kids.
