How do you pronounce Britax?

Another one that gets me is Chicco. Parents look at you like you're crazy when you say it Key-co.

I usually end up saying "Chicco keyfit... it looks like Cheek-o, but it's pronounced like Italian, so it's key-co".

I find it funny the differences in pronunciation of the same product in Canada and the U.S...

For example, in Canada, in ads for the Kia Sportage, it is pronounced Spor-TAJ (think Taj Mahal.) This would be in line with a French pronunciation - but these are English commercials.

When I see U.S. ads, it's pronounced SPORT-age - keeping in line with English rules of pronunciation.

Just my silly little observation... I wonder if Chicco promotes their products as "Cheek-o" for North America?

I don't think so. We have an independent baby store here in town I like to play at and they say Key-ko and I'm sure they get all their training right from the manufacturer. I'm just happy they get trained and seem to get it. :) They get all the good seats in first.

OMG, I say it wrong! I say Bree-tax, cause that's all I've ever heard. I ran into a woman calling it Br-eye-tax one time and I thought she was crazy. Guess I'm the idiot.

Britax (like it rhymes with eye).

Chicco says their name like Key-ko in the US - at least when I called that is what they say!

I've also heard tex vs. tax, but that may be more of a dialect thing. . .

Do you pronunciation Aaron and Erin differently? How about Ellen & Allen?

Yes, but my dad can't hear or pronounce the difference between Craig and Greg (and probably the previous names either!) His first language is French.

So what does the "H" represent in Italian then? Is it an indicator of a hard "C"? (So if if Chicco were spelled Cicco, it would be pronouced See-ko?)

The "H"s in French I can't figure out. They're never pronounced, and they never modify anything... I don't know why they exist in that language at all!
