Hello,
Over the last few months, the forums have experienced an increase in bandwidth. Unfortunately, the tools at the service provider appear to be bugged and inconsistent, so it has been difficult to pinpoint the reason for the increase.
Combined with the increase in visits or pageviews is the fact that the provider cut our allowed bandwidth and disk space in half last year when they raised rates. At the time, they claimed we were nowhere near the limits. So, I was only mildly upset that the original package we were offered that had room for growth turned out to be a typical "teaser" rate.
Until I have the time and energy to shop for a new provider, I need to make a few changes to avoid the websites from going offline at the end of the month. I have increased the compression of the forums. I am also lowering the size of various attachments, including avatars, images and other file uploads. Even if you are not affected by these changes, please make sure any images or files you attach are as small as possible.
I greatly apologize for any inconvenience. As it appears rates at the current provider are rising again, I hope to have enough time find a more competitive solution with another provider that will honor their agreements. If I do, I will return the forums settings and increase allowed image space again.
Thank you!
