How long can a child RF in a Roundabout?

I'm thinking ahead about a convertible for DD for our Wrangler. I really want to tether it RF so that narrows my choices. The Radian is out because of the required angle - our seats to too close in the Wrangler for that to work. DS is in a Radian in the Jeep already, but he's FF. Not sure about a MA (guess I could try DS's, huh?). But I was thinking of the Roundabout. About how long will that last RF - realistically? Thanks!

The 10 month old I watch occasionally only has about 2" above his head, but he is very tall. I would probrally try the marathon.

Yeah, I'll try the MA one day just to see. It may work since the RF angle is a little more flexible than the Radian.

The RA is only one inch taller than the SS1... Leah's basically too tall for the RA RF at 2 now (smaller kids make it to three...)

My boys both outgrew the RA RF by 18mo (using the 1" above the head rule). In comparison, my 5yo would have fit RF in a MA until he was almost 3.

Okay, thanks, everyone... Darn. I was hoping this would be a good solution.

I guess I'll have to try the MA one day and just see. IIRC, someone once said on here that a RF MA didn't take up any more room than a SS1? Because we can fit a SS1 in there just fine - well, as long as it's behind me and not DH.

ETA: Skipspin? C&Cfam? What do you guys use in your Wranglers RFing?

Thanks, Julie... I guess that's about what everyone else is saying, huh? 18 mos -24 mos?

I checked Skipspins siggie. One of hers is RF in a Wizard and BLVD, so I guess those are fitting okay RF in the Wrangler. Maybe I'll hear from her or PM her. :)

Ilana made it to 2y9m and she still had some room if you used the "even with shell" rule. Ours was made in 2000 so it was still 30lbs and within 1inch. I could have used the new rules and sort of did (Ilana was about 31lbs), but I kept feeling like I was breaking some rules. Ilana wasn't small either, she was 10lb2oz at birth ;)

My DD made it until 3 and around 30-31 lbs. in the RA following the head even rule. It just depends on the child.

I was at target today and put Jordan in the Roundabout. His head was 1/2 inch above the shell of the Roundabout, and he is very small for his age. (3 years, 4 months, 27 pounds, 36 inches).

LOL, check it out.. http://www.angelfire.com/mi3/terib/jackson2.html (That's Teri's William in the RF RA... one of the pictures that first got me on the ERF kick...wow, such an exotic thing, an 18 mo RF... I was amazed...)

And considering that was 6.5 years ago it WAS rather exotic at the time. He went to a Touriva RF after that and made it to almost 3 in my car - turned him when I started having pre-term labor and wasn't allowed to lift him anymore. I will admit that in his van he was turned about the time that pic was taken - my ex-hubby didn't support extended rf.

Wow, the RA is only 1 in taller than SS1? I am trying to pick new seats for my dc kids that are outgrowing the SS1. I was hoping the RA may work for us.

IIRC Seamus was 21-22 months when he hit the height limit for RF in the RA. He hit 33lbs a month or two later.
He's a big guy.

I think Teagan would have made to at least 2 1/2, maybe 3 RF in the RA. A lot of people find the MA easier to deal with if you have space issues, belive it or not. I loved my RA and even though I only used it for 2 years, I will say that it was worth every penny and buy one again. However, I personally chose the RA over the MA because I put a 6 week old in it. If it was for a one year old, I would have skipped it and gone right to the MA.

DS2 made it to 15 months RF in the RA that is using the 1 inch rule. He is now in Radian. He has a very long torso, now if only his legs will catch up
