is there a cost in ordering online then returning?

ok, call me crazy! But I'd love to have more seats to play with in my cars and try to install different configurations. Specially in preparation for my CPST class. Is there any cost in ordering a seat online with free shipping, say from target and then returning to the store? And do you think this is wrong? I wouldn't actually let dd ride in it and use it in any way, other than try to install and, of course, take a picture.
Can I do it? Can I do it? I'd love to get my hands on a Radian and see how it installs in my car, but I don't think I'd end up using it because it has to be too recline RF and dd has issues with that.
I know I could go to BRU and try seats in my car. But it's not the same. Last time the salesguy came out with me and I felt pressured and rushed. And they didn't have a RN anyway!

Generally there is a cost, but regardless I would *not* do this.

Child restraints that get returned are *supposed* to be destroyed, which means we've just wasted a good seat for nothing.

Oh thanks. I didn't know that. I thought target actually sells them marked down when they're returned. But you're right, I'd hate to think the brand new seat I'm getting could have been used by someone for a while and who knows what they did to it.

i have heard of people on my bargain board purchasing seats from target that were bought online and returned to the store. its been obvios online items only. they DO mark them down and sell them as they are not regular stock in the store.

i would NOT purchase it jsut to play with it and then return in.

you guys make good points! I won't be doing it, it was more like an impulse when I saw that Radian80 for 139. Not that the price mattered if i was returning it, but it just made me want one so badly...

You will lose your shipping costs. They do not reimburse for that. I have a friend fighting with BRU right now because they ordered a product online that they said was made in the USA and when they recieved it it says right on it made in china. SHe feel she should get her shipping back to and they refuse. SHe told them the misrepresented the product by advertising it as made in the usa when it was not.
