Excerpt from the AO manual

If the harness is below the child’s shoulders with the
headrest in the 4th highest position, the child weighs at
least 40 lbs. (18.1 kg) and is over 1 year old, convert
the seat to a belt-positioning booster

I'm watching a friend's twins this weekend and the straps on her seats are wrong so someone here gave me the link to the manual. No wonder we see one year olds in boosters!! The manual says it's ok. What are they thinking?

This is probably old news for most of you but it's really got me ruffled tonight. I'm not a big fan of the AO seats and love my Britax's even more. :)

While it isn't great at least they say AND. They could have said OR. Of course I could be reading the quote wrong since I have never read the AO manual.

Evenflo allows booster mode for any child over 12 months and 30 pounds. I've written and complained, and I don't think I'm the only one, but they won't change it.

So I guess it's the norm. I find it so frustrating that we try to educate people on car safety but the car seat manufacturers print something that is so against anything we'd try to teach.

THANK GOD it's in the manual not to use the top 'slots' (Sorry, I've been wanting that to be in the manual for years, not just imprinted on the back).

It sucks, but it's better than telling them to use the Auto Booster/High Rise... that's backless and ok from 30 pounds and 1 year

At least it's fairly unusual for a kid to be that big...

ROFL! No kidding... (if only they'd pay their manual writing department as much as they pay their marketing department...THEN they might be good!)
