Regent on a American Airlines ???? Any ideas

We are flying American Airline from Vermont to Hawaii and want my three year old to be in a car seat even though she meets the height and weight requirements to be belted. She is 45 inches tall and weight 52 lbs but is only 3 years old (and 3 months). We have a Britax Regent as her car seat but we cannot use it on the plane because it secured with a shoulder and waist belt and planes do not have the shoulder harness. The Regent is not Regent is not airplane certified. Does anyone have any ideas of other car seats we can get that are airplane certified, will fit in an AA seat and will be comfortable for my daughter ?

Thanks so much .

I would try out the Graco Nautilus and the Sunshine Kids Radian. What slot is she at on her Regent now? that would give us some idea if either of these seats might work. The other option is the CARES harness.
If you haven't seen a CARES harness check out www.kidsflysafe.com for the specs.

You would, however, still need a seat at your desitination if you use the CARES harness on the plane, and checking any car seat has risks.

Doesn't the CARES only go to 44 pounds? If that's the case kiddo is too big for the CARES.

I would suggest a Radian or a Graco Nautilus....but would think the the Nautilus would be better in the long run as it could be a spare and converts to a booster later.

We purchased the Graco Nautilus and love it already. My daughter who is taller then the average 5 year old at 3 fits in the chair wonderfully and said its cozy ! I wold recommend this to anyone who has a child that is taller then the average child. It was not the easiest chair to find. Sold out everywhere !!!

Thanks again.

Just in case you ever encounter this situation, I also wanted to point out that the Regent CAN be installed with a lapbelt only. Just not on a plane! :)
