Successful Three Across thread

Okay, came up with another one today out of necessity of not killing kids when they whined about "his feet are in my carseat!"

'05 Highlander
RF MA, RF Radian 65, Chase RF seats installed with belt, Chase with Latch on passenger side...yes, there is that much room on that side! Not checked by a tech but all are independently solid installs.

Friend's vehicle - said to have been checked by Tech:

Worth a try -

Subaru Impreza

Outboard seats - both RF Maxi Cosi Priori
Middle seat - FF Britax Roundabout

I'm not sure if it's latch or belt install - looked good from the window :)

I think that works. I can fit 2 RF RAs outboard seatbelt and a FF RA middle seatbelt in my impreza and the prior is about the same size, I believe.

*note* if you switch the TFP and the Frontier sides (TFP Drivers, Frontier Passanger), it's difficult to buckle in the Marathon or the Frontier - whichever is installed last due to the seats are so close together it's hard to get your arm down there to the next female buckle to buckle it - it's do-able but diffcult - no pics to show)

2002 Saturn SL1

Outboard Driver: FF Cosco Scenera
Middle: RF Radian
Outboard Passenger: FF Evenflo Titan Deluxe

Not checked by tech (temporary setup while my car was in the shop), but all seats independent and rock solid.

I also did this configuration, but didn't like it as much. I felt the outboard seats were too close to the windows.

Outboard Driver: FF Cosco Scenera
Middle: RF Evenflo Titan Deluxe
Outboard Passenger: FF Radian

A few more options for the 3rd row in the 2007 Kia Sedona, LWB

Drivers Side Outboard, Center, Passenger Side Outboard:
FF RN, FF EFTA, HB Turbo
FF RN, HB Turbo, FF EFTA ((Turbo very hard to buckle))
FF RN, GN, HB Turbo

I tried replacing the Turbo with the Vivo in each instance and it doesn't work. Vivo's sides angle up and outward, which makes it pretty difficult in a 3-across.

I'll have more combinations and photos after this weekend, with the assistance of a tech friend :)

I got another 3 across in my '96 Accord.

RF RN, FF Frontier and a FF & RF RN <--- of course not FF & RF at the same time, seperately of course.

All installed with seatbelt (with the frontier being a lapbelt) and tethers.

WOO HOO! Had some time to play carseat swap and here's what I came up with.

Car is a 2006 subaru impreza.
All done with seatbelt and tethered.
Keyfit will not puzzle with the RF RNs with the base, I had to install it with the seatbelt keeping the seat stationary.

First picture:
RF RN
RF RN
chicco keyfit (yes I know the seatbelt needs to go back through the other side, this was the last install of the day and I was nursing a nasty broken nail from the GN install)

Second Picture:
RF RN
FF GN
RF RN
VERY VERY tight install but all are independently tight. The GN has a rough time puzzling with the two RF RNs, so I had to install the GN first, then put in the RNs in the outboard positions.

Third picture:

RF RN
By far the best install ever!!! Everything is rock solid and I didn't break nails putting it in :)

Hope that helps anyone with a small backseat!!!

Here are the three across I have managed in my 2004 VW Passat -

RF Radian, FF Radian, RF Keyfit with base - no pics and not checked by a tech but all seats were rock solid. . The outboard seats were installed with LATCH, center seat seatbelt obviously.

FF Radian (LATCH), RF Radian (seatbelt), FF Radian (seatbelt). I couldn't get the third seat in with LATCH. Not checked by a tech. The only seat not rock-solid is the FF Radian seatbelt install outboard. It is an acceptable install, though. Here's a pic of that set-up -

seat2.jpg

I haven't tried it yet, but I am confident that RF Radian, FF Radian, RF Radian would work with all seatbelt or LATCH outboard/seatbelt center.

These are all the different 3 across installs I tried today.

Some difficulty with outboard driver's side seat and middle seat because of this
DSC06302-1.jpg

(that is the driver's side buckle stalk, LATCh anchor and middle seat belt)

These are the combinations that worked:
(driver-middle-passenger)

DSC07456.jpg
RF Marathon-RF Radian-RF SS1 (all seat belt installs)

DSC07465.jpg
RF Marathon-RF Radian-RF Scenera (all seat belt installs)

DSC07475.jpg
RF Marathon-FF Radian-RF Scenera (all seat belt installs)

DSC07484.jpg
RF Marathon-RF SS1 (no base)-RF Scenera (all seat belt installs)

DSC07487.jpg
RF SS1-RF Marathon-RF Scenera (all seat belt installs)

DSC07516.jpg
FF Radian-FF Marathon-RF Scenera (Radian LATCh, MA/Scenera seat belt installs)

DSC07523.jpg
FF Marathon-FF Radian-RF Scenera (all seat belt installs)

DSC07535.jpg
FF Marathon-FF Radian-RF SS1 (all seat belt installs)

DSC07536.jpg
RF Marathon-FF Radian-RF SS1 (all seat belt installs)

DSC07543.jpg
RF Marathon-FF Radian-FF Scenera (all seat belt installs)

DSC07563.jpg
FF Marathon-FF Radian-FF Scenera (all seat belt installs)

RF SS1 with base did not puzzle with a FF MA, the base would fit, but not the seat.

FF Frontier-FF MA-RF SS1 (Frontier LATCH, MA & SS1 seat belt)
SS1 puzzles perfectly with the door, but you do have to push *a little* to close the door on the Frontier. I fit in the middle between the SS1 and the Frontier (and I am not tiny!).

DSC07586.jpg
FF Frontier-RF SS1-RF Marathon (Frontier-LATCh, MA & SS1 seat belt)
MA puzzles with door and the Frontier fits better.

no pics yet, but i did just manage in a

2004 Volkwagen Jetta

Britax Parkway
FFing Scenera
Britax Parkway

it was tight, but it worked. The Scenera digs into the sides of the PWs somewhat in the torso/wing area, and will probably make marks on the PW covers, just because the PW's is plushy/velvet material, but that's OK. on a seat with a non-plush cover it wouldn't even matter.

we made it work. not checked by a tech, but the scenera was installed first, with lap/shoulder belt and is very solid. the 2 PWs fit on either side and buckling them isn't even too bad.

This is a 2000 Subaru Outback.
All seat belt installs
Driver side to Passenger side:
Marathon, Radian 65, Boulevard CS
Britax seats use lock-off and Radian has a locked seat belt.
This is the only combo that I've found to work using these seats:
Radian
Marathon
Boulevard
Frontier
