Brio Zento

Well I got he height slot measurement some time ago and just now changed them to inches.

The bottom slot is said to be 7.8 inch
The top is 14.2 inch.

After reading that the MA and other smilar seats are 18inch. I am not sure how long the Brio Zento will last.

The weight limit is 55lb rear facing harnessed, or 40lb harnessed forward facing and then to a maximum of 55lb forward facing with the seat belt.

How much difference is there between rear facing and forward facing for height.
Some one on here said a child they know aged 6 has a 13inch torso, so she would be fine but how many 55lb kids would have a torso of 14.2 inch or less?

Yes but you can use it rear-facing until the tips of the ears, it's not based on slot height :)

Man, that's short in the slots...like the Comfortsport we are always griping about. 6 yo with a 13 inch torso? That person either mismeasured or the child is possibly suffereing from a form of dwarfism...? :/

Still, yeah, doesn't matter too much about slot height when rearfacing... unless you have to follow harness slots at or above the shoulders, like Australian RF seats require, for example. 55 pounds is the 'average' american 8 year old on the growth charts, just for reference (but it's gotta be such a great seat for a large baby! I'm all about people having options...)

And, on the plus side, often that early info we can glean from manufacturers is wrong, so maybe the slots are higher....?
:)

I want to say I read somewhere that the foreign seats want you to use the slots above the shoulders for rearfacing. Is this true? I can't remember when or where I read it, so it might not be. If it is true... Do we know which brands it is? Would/could this be one of them? I would hope not with such short top slots!

I believe scandanavian seats are below the shoulders. Anyway, not why I was posting.

What's the full height of the back?

yea that's the australian seats :)

hot?!?!?! my rear :p its not even 90F there :p

87.7 today right now inside, with the fan on. Likely to be 90 outside though. It's super hot for our "normal" temps.

Was higher yesterday.

Anyway the Brio is 57cm (22.4inch) from bottom to top, the top slot is 14.7 inch. I emailed the importer and she said her son has just out grown it, his torso is over 14 inches, so it sounds like you use it RF until the slots are matched, not the top of the seat.
It sounds like you will be able to use it RF to 5 years.
