Approved Child Restraint Devices

* Convertible-type car seats designed for forward or backward installation in a forward-facing aircraft seat:
o Many of these carry the FMVSS.213 insignia and/or language indicating that they are "approved for use in motor vehicles and on aircraft."
o Any CRD manufactured between January 1, 1961 and February 25, 1985, must have the following label: "This child restraint device conforms to all applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards."
o Any CRD manufactured since February 26, 1985, must have both of the following labels: "This child restraint device conforms to all applicable federal motor vehicle safety standards" and "This restraint is certified for use in motor vehicles and aircraft."

So I could use a seat manufactured in 1961 if it had the right sticker on it? :ROTFLMAO:

how lame, I can't believe they still list the old rule! so many people don;t know seats expire and they're certainly not helping...

They are just regurgitating the dates of the law for aircraft-approval labels... still lame, though  (you know, like when they say any car after 1968, you must use a seatbelt? It just because seatbelts weren't law before then...)

You know someone over at Amitymama.com found a organization that converts carseats, whole or parts, into seating options for disabled children in other contries. I wish I could find out more about them. I forget what they were called but I'll go hunt down the thread and post a link.

I'd be interested in that link. My Evenflo Odyessy V is expired. I'm sad. It kills me to just throw it away. DH will have a major fit when he sees me do it. Even though Evenflo stamps right on the back of their seat "Expires/Do Not Use After" (or whatever it technically says). He thinks I'm nuts anyways!!! Ok...back to the topic at hand...that link...lmk!
