Anyone ever send a seat back to Britax?

Has anyone ever sent a seat back to Britax? If so, did you keep your cover etc?

They are replacing my DC (because of the harness adjustor problem) iwth a MA and I would really, really like to keep the cover and pads. But NOT if they're going to hold up my replacement seat (I'm sending back my DC first) or make me pay for the cover.

I'm getting ready to pack it up soon so I can ship it out tomorrow. Incidentally, I am SO glad I kept the box in the basement! :)

I had a FPSVD that I had to send back. They replaced it with a MA in mossy oak. I could have cared less about the FP cover b/c it was all fuzzed up anyway.

Not sure if they would care. I wonder what they do with the seats we send back? Maybe crash them? Sounds like fun!:D

I haven't sent a seat back to Britax but remember other posters who have, and they posted about stripping their seats naked before sending them back in, lol. I think some of them also received their replacement seats before sending in their old, stripped seats. Will you be without a seat in the meantime, or do you have a backup seat you can use? If you'll be without or don't want to use a backup seat, you could call and inquire if Britax will ship to you first. Going by other poster's experiences with replacement seats again, when Britax ships out a replacement seat first, I believe they ask for a credit card number to put a hold on the account for the value of the new seat. Britax then removes the hold on the credit card after receiving the old seat. It might be worth another call to Britax if you would prefer that order of events, and you could also officially ask for Britax's blessing to keep your cover. :)

I have had my seats replaced by Britax and I have been able to keep my covers. I asked, and they said yes. :)

I've had 2 seats replaced by Britax and kept my cover both times. The first time I asked, and the second I just did it and they didn't say anything. I kept the cover, belly pad, harness pads & huggs. And kept 1 D-ring by mistake.

I didn't have a spare seat, so they just held my credit card # and sent me the new seat. I had 30 days to return my old seat. They should give you a mailing label for return shipping, but you will have to drop it off at a UPS place.

We do not have a spare seat (well, unless you count the AO that is out on loan) but that's OK. DH will pick up/drop off from day care until the new seat arrives. If worse comes to worse (say, DH calls from a client in Detroit and says he canNOT pick DD up) I would stop at Walmart on the way to day care and grab a Scenera, since WM is right on my way to day care. Britax offered to do the CC hold thing and send the new seat out right away but honestly, I'd rather not give out my CC info unless necessary.

I'm so glad that everyone is saying they kept their cover etc., becuase I had actually already packed up the seat sans cover, pads and HUGS when I posted this thread. And the reason I didn't ask Britax about keeping the cover is I didin't want them to say no. ;)

It's possible, just possible, that my DC cover might fit my FPSVD. I certainly haven't tried that, of course.

They replaced my Decathlon with a Marathon because of harness issues as well. We kept the covers/inserts/pads and just send the seat back and didn't have any problems.

My DC was replaced with a MA as well and I kept the cover and all the coordinating cover parts (comfort pads, infant positioning pads etc....) and sold them on ebay. ;)

Yes you can keep the cover. They want the straps and foam and everything else there for some reason, though.

I recently had my MA replaced and I asked about keeping the cover and straps. They told me I could strip the seat down and send back just the shell.

Sounds like a plan to me and I know about being reluctant to do the credit card thing unless absolutely necessary. :) FYI, that WM had a stack of girly pink Sceneras in stock a week ago when I stopped by on a futile quest to see if the Nautilus was there, just in case you decide to pick up a backup Scenera. :) I was pretty surprised to see the Scenera selection as it was the first time I'd seen the girly one in person, but not surprised about the lack of the Nautilus. It seems to be the last WM to get any new seat models in, if at all.

Nuts, I may just have to get one! ;) I checked Walmart.com for the pink Scenera a couple of days ago and they said there were none in stock within a 100 mile radius.

DH will kill me ... though if it means he doesn't have to pick up DD all next week, maybe he won't mind. And I wouldn't mind having a backup seat.

Oops, bought one on my lunch hour today. Hee hee. Don't tell DH though.

Actually, I was thisclose to deciding to get one anyway, then you said that WM had the pink Sceneras AND then I read on another board that it was on price rollback to $43.96. (It was.)

This is actually perfect. There have been several times that I wished we had an extra seat (for my mom's car when DD visits them, for preschool trips this summer, etc) so this will work out just fine.

Thanks Jean! :)

ROTFL. You're welcome. :D Tell your DH I'm an awful carseat purchase enabler (and don't tell him I could have loaned you a Como, Blvd. or Scenera, lol).

The FPSVD is built with a DC shell, so it should fit. But whether things line up correctly...well I wonder...

So sorry that you had issues with your DC. We love both of ours and haven't had any issues. Good luck

It fits, and everything lines up just fine. I actually did have the DC cover on my FPSVD for a little while. Actually, I took a ton of pictures when both seats were "nekkid" for a while. I should post them sometime - interesting comparison pics.

Jean, I didn't know you had a Como! You'll have to show it to me if we do a seat check together again. I haven't seen any of the Recaro seats in person.

When he told me to send back my seat and they would send me a new one for free, he actually told me to make sure and keep the cover and straps so I have spare.
