Hello,
i find this forum and it is great. So much information... Of course is a seat with harness up to 80 lbs so much more safer as an booster. In germany is the end of harnesed seats up to 18 kg!
Only a few, very expensive seats for special needs are with harness. Are your childs accept the harness when they are for example 8 years old?
With best regards from germany,
Frank

I never let either of my children or any of my nephew/neices dictate in what they would ride at 8. My youngest neice is going to be 8 in June. The only reason she's in a booster is because I rarely remember to change the harness height for her when the seat is already installed in the vehicle. But if I'm specifically installing it for her, yes she uses it without complaint. And with her mother she doesn't ride in anything at all, which is illegal in my state. My 10 yo neice complains about using a booster (again, she hasn't used any seat at all since she was about three), but has spent enough time with me to know my car, my rules, and she WILL be boostered.

I would of course take the "It's my way or the highway." approach to this. At 8-years old, the only say a child should have when it comes to being safely harnessed is; "Which seat of the ones that I deem safe and in my budget do you find the most comfortable?", and "Which cover do you like best?" That's it. End of discussion. At 8-years old a child has ZERO clue as to what is best and safe for them, and in no way should they be treated as miniature adults in this regard. You dictate to them. Not the other way around.

By the way... Welcome to the board!

PS... Yay! More testosterone! Go go guy team!

only once have my sons ever had a choice in their covers, and even then they didn't get EXACTLY the one they wanted. The one they wanted was a Target exclusive and didn't go on sale until a month AFTER I paid for theirs.

See my pic. The boy is 9, and still in a harness. He says he feels safer that way.
