My 4 1/2 yr old dd has some special needs and needs to be in a five point harness, if only because she doesn't get why she has to wear a seat belt.
She's 38 lbs, and about 40 inches tall, and currently in a Britax Marathon, which I bought after her other car seat had a piece break off. I bought the Marathon as it said it went up to higher weights and heights and I could get it locally.
But since buying it, I've read that you shouldn't use it once the shoulders go past the last slot, even though that's not what the instruction manual said.
So, she's on the last slot, shoulders still below it. but should I start looking for a bigger seat? I was thinking the Britax Regent, as it comes in a girly pattern and she likes girly. She doesn't need anything special, like extra head control or trunk support. Will the Regent last her a long time? Like until she's 8 or so?
I also don't want to make the mistake of buying another seat that I think will last a while and doesn't - though dh and I are all for spending what's needed on a good car seat to keep her safe, I really would rather not do it every year!
